Lift Truck Makers Celebrate National Forklift Safety Day

Lift truck manufacturers, dealers, and providers of associated products will be observing National Forklift Safety Day on June 12, 2018. Here are just a few examples of the events, literature, and promotions they'll be offering around the country.

The main event for National Forklift Safety Day 2018 will be held in Washington, D.C., on June 12. But lift truck manufacturers, dealers, and providers of associated products and services around the country will be holding their own events to help customers improve safety in their warehouses and distribution centers. Operator training classes, information resources, and safety-themed community events are among the many ways forklift makers and local dealers will help their customers keep forklift safety top of mind. For more information about National Forklift Safety Day programs and events in your area, contact your local forklift dealer.

For the past four years Clark Material Handling Co. has celebrated Forklift Safety Day with a community event at its North American headquarters, 700 Enterprise Dr., Lexington, Ky. This year the company celebrates its fifth affair, on June 12, with a catered lunch, forklift rodeo for certified drivers, and a driving course for those who have never driven an industrial truck. Local radio station 98.1 "The Bull" will also be on site to add to the festivities. Prizes will be given out during the event. This FREE program is open to the public; attendees may register on site the day of the event. Additionally, that week Clark will be offering, at no charge, forklift operator training classes to several local businesses.

Faced with increasing productivity demands and a shortage of skilled labor, warehousing and distribution operations are looking for new ways to attract and train the next generation of lift truck operators. Learning tools that complement forklift training, such as the The Raymond Corp.'s Raymond Virtual Reality Simulator, a 2018 MHI Innovation Award Winner, can help. The first of its kind in the industry, the simulator allows an operator to enter a simulated warehousing environment using an existing Raymond forklift. In recognition of National Forklift Safety Day, Raymond is giving away FREE a limited number of sample views of a 360-degree video that showcases the technology while providing a similar virtual experience as the Raymond Virtual Reality Simulator. Quantities are limited. Register at

Michigan Safety Standards for Used Forklifts

Michigan is home to a number of industries, but the agricultural and food processing industries are two of the biggest. If you are working in any sort of industrial or warehouse processing environment, chances are high that you will have a strong need for used forklifts to help move heavy loads. Some of the largest food processing plants can stretch on for miles, and need qualified vehicles that will be able to safely and efficiently move these supplies from one end to the other. Before making your decision about which vehicles to purchase, there are a few factors to take into consideration.

Used Clark Forklifts in Michigan

Safety should always come first when looking at the different used forklifts. There are approximately 85 forklift fatalities per year, according to OSHA statistics. These can usually be prevented with requiring certification of all the employees who are going to be driving your used forklifts. Because forklifts may vary slightly depending on the make and model, before you make any new or used purchases you will want to take them for test drives.

A test drive can help you learn a lot about a vehicle. During the test drive you will want to take the forklift on any of the regular positions that are used in your work environment.

Tips for Buying Used Clark Forklifts

Although forklifts may be associated primarily with large warehouse operations, they can also be used in typical work setting that include grocery stores, food processing plants, and retail stores. Anywhere where there may be a warehouse that has bulky or heavy items that need to be moved from one point to another is a good candidate for a forklift. Clark is one of the world’s leading brands of forklift manufacturers, with over 350,000 units currently in operation. To find used Clark forklifts for sale, there are a number of different outlets that you could look at.

However, before you begin the process of looking at all the various used Clark forklifts for sale, it’s also a good idea to first start thinking about what exactly you are going to be using your lift truck for. If you only need it for a short term purpose, or don’t think that you will be using it on a daily basis, you may be able to get away with a more heavily used model.

However, if you think that you will be using this on a daily basis as part of a larger fleet of forklifts, then the newer models could be worth paying more money for.

Clark Forklift Parts

One of the top brands of forklifts is Clark, which has over 350,000 units currently in operation. These are ideal for those who need a quality product to help them with their merchandising needs or any other types of warehouse mobility issues. One facet of the Clark brand that sets them apart from other brands on the market is that Clark forklift parts are also made by Clark in their factories, rather than being outsourced from somewhere else. That helps ensure that they are made to fit perfectly into either your existing Clark forklift, or into a new one that you are modifying.

Clark Forklift Dealers

Some will offer products directly from the manufacturer, with exclusively Clark products, while others will have a wider range of items that could suit just about any type of forklift part or service repair need that you could potentially run across in your manufacturing career.

Clark Forklift Service

Those that are in the market for either a regular tune-up on their Clark forklifts or who believe that there is something malfunctioning with their equipment will need to find a Clark forklift service center. These are located around the world, fortunately, and offer a full range of proper services for the forklift owner. In the event that a special part is missing or there are more complicated needs, the Clark forklift service technicians have access to a full network of their online catalog, which stocks hundreds of thousands of specialty parts. While not all of these are manufactured directly by the Clark brand, they are made specifically to be compatible with this type of forklift. When you are ordering anything of this specialty nature, it’s a good idea to take into account the other repair services that will also be needed and see if this type of treatment is covered under your service repair plan.

When buying a used Clark forklift, you may not be offered a warranty or service repair plan by the vendor. This is true in the case of those who make their purchases from former owners of the forklifts that are not affiliated with Clark.
